Don’t Risk Injuries, Downtime, or Failed Inspections

Hard, uneven, or non-compliant play surfacing exposes your community to injuries, complaints, and costly rework. Sand and pea gravel scatter, bog down mobility devices, and rarely meet accessibility expectations. Rubber systems can be hot, expensive, and still require vigilant upkeep. Every season you defer a proper solution is another season of thin spots, trip hazards, and frustrated families.

Municipal parks and playgrounds need a surface that cushions falls, stays navigable after rain, and is practical to maintain across multiple sites. EWF gives you consistent depth, dependable performance, and a natural look—without overextending your budget.

Why More Parks and Playgrounds Choose Engineered Wood Fiber

Budget-Smart

EWF is typically more affordable than poured-in-place rubber or synthetic turf, ideal for multi-site districts.

Safety & Accessibility

Properly installed EWF cushions falls and supports wheelchairs and crutches to meet ADA standards.

Natural Appeal

A clean, wood-fiber look that complements green spaces and urban settings alike.

What Exactly Is EWF (Engineered Wood Fiber)?

EWF is a processed wood product designed for playgrounds. It’s a loose-fill system with smaller, safer particles (fewer sharp chunks) that absorb impact and, at proper depth, provide a firm, slip-resistant surface navigable by wheelchairs and crutches.

We understand the pressure to keep parks safe, open, and compliant

From school-adjacent tot lots to city flagships, you balance safety, accessibility, uptime, and public perception, often on tight budgets and tighter timelines. Our crews use blower trucks and long-run hoses to place EWF evenly (often from the street or parking lot), finish with tidy edges, and minimize site disruption…so your community gets back to play, fast.

Playground EWF Requirements

DIY Park Surfacing vs partnering with Superior

Wheelbarrows and rakes yield uneven depth, long closures, and inconsistent compliance. EWF only cushions falls and supports accessibility when installed at the right depth. Our calibrated blown-in method delivers uniform coverage fast (and we handle clean-up) so you reduce downtime and pass inspections with confidence.

Superior installs EWF across municipal play environments.

I've been installing landscapes and hydroseeding my entire adult life. We hired this company for a very large and complicated project to blow compost. We had such a great experience we used them to hydromulch the site when we finished native seeding. They moved their schedule twice to meet conditions and were happy to do so. They were very professional, the crew was very polite, they went way above and beyond to make sure it was easy for us and our client. I cant say enough good about the people, the company, and the work. I look forward to getting to use them on another project in the future.

This company is amazing. They came out on Monday and did and amazing job. They prepared the lawn, removing a lot of rocks. They did an amazing job for erosion control. They were professional and communicated from the beginning. Tuesday, Buckets of rain. All the prep work, hydroseed washed away. Were the erosion mats were laid did exactly what it was supposed to do but no company can prepare for the amount of water that God released. Wednesday, I called and talked to Bill. Whom I had been in contact with from the beginning. Bill stopped by house, told me he had a truck in the area. A crew was out there fixing the yard and re-hydroseeded my yard without extra cost. I could not have been happier of their professionalism and customer service. I would highly recommend Superior if your in need of hydroseeding.

We have had a great experience with hiring Superior Groundcover to complete our hydroseeding for our home. From the moment we spoke with Bill, we knew we could trust the work to be done the right way. Bill educated us on the process and was always available to answer any questions we had. Also, his team was quick, efficient and professional. We would highly recommend working with this company for your hydroseeding project.

Can't recommend these guys enough. Called Terry on a short notice to try to get mulch in on a project that meant a lot to me. Even in their busiest time of year he managed to make it happen for me within the timeline I needed it. His guys were knowledgeable and very polite. They knew exactly how much mulch I was going to need to finish the project and got it done. They also blew the area spotless and even managed to clean up some of my mess in the process. All around 10/10 company and I wouldn't want to work with anyone else!

Yes! When installed and maintained at proper depth, EWF supports wheelchair and crutch access and is widely used to meet ADA standards.

Usage drives cadence, but many parks top off annually or every 1–2 years to maintain depth and performance.

Blown-in placement dramatically shortens install time; many sites are completed in hours depending on size and access.

Area size (and required depth) is the biggest factor. Maintenance cycles and site access also play a role.

Often yes and our blower trucks can install from the street or parking lot and reach under equipment with long hoses.
