What Is Pond Erosion Control?

Pond erosion control is the act of stabilizing pond shorelines with high-quality, durable materials that protect exposed property, preventing stormwater runoff, pond water, wind, and human presence from deteriorating the shore. In turn, your pond edge will remain stable and look incredible!

Superior Groundcover offers various unique, living erosion control solutions tailored to your specific site circumstances. One of those solutions is SOX, a bioengineered erosion control system. Superior Groundcover, Inc. is a certified service provider for SOX Erosion Solutions. DredgeSOX and ShoreSOX begin to immediately protect pond edges from erosion upon installation as a result of their durable double layer of knitted polyethylene containment mesh and dependable anchoring installation process.

How SOX Pond Erosion Control Works

There are five steps to our SOX pond edge erosion control process.

Pond Erosion Control

1. Inquire with Superior

Is your commercial or residential pond shoreline experiencing deterioration? Send us a message today. We’d be happy to stop by for a site visit and offer a solution and budget for your specific project. We offer both DredgeSOX and ShoreSOX, which are ideal for use near water. Both are filled with a custom blend of growing media, including sand, topsoil, and organics and are vegetated with seed, plantings, or sod. While they do have different deployment methods, we are happy to help you determine which erosion control solution is right for your specific pond.

2. Schedule Install Date

Once we’ve determined the amount of SOX material, components, and logistics necessary for your pond erosion project, and you’ve accepted our formal proposal, we will contact you to set up an installation date.

3. Site Prep & SOX Installation

Superior Groundcover will prepare the work area ahead of time, including scheduling MISS DIG to flag underground utilities, identifying drainage outlet pipes, and removing any debris in the project area. On the installation day, our Superior team will arrive with your DredgeSOX or ShoreSOX and begin the install, properly deploying the SOX containment system and components along your pond edge, ensuring its longevity and durability for years to come.

4. Fill with Substrate & Vegetate

Once the Sox containment system is securely in place, our team will fill the DredgeSOX or ShoreSOX with our custom backfill material, contouring it to your existing pond edge. Finally, Superior Groundcover will vegetate the bioengineered erosion control system and surrounding area to blend in with the natural pond surroundings. Depending on your site, we may use native plantings, water plants, sod, or a hydroseeding process with custom seed mixes and specialized additives to establish a natural, long lasting erosion protection solution!

5. Immediately Enjoy Your Stabilized Pond Shoreline

DredgeSOX and ShoreSOX work to instantly provide protection, giving commercial and residential property owners more peace of mind that their pond edge is effectively protected from erosion.

Who Needs SOX Pond Erosion Control?

Homeowners with ponds: Do you have a beautiful pond on your property? Erosion can eat away at the shoreline, leaving it exposed and dangerous for anyone walking the edge. DredgeSOX and ShoreSOX restore pond shorelines, giving you more peace of mind and an aesthetically pleasing pond.

Commercial property owners with ponds: Pond erosion control solutions like DredgeSOX and ShoreSOX ensure commercial property owners that their ponds are protected from the effects of erosion, which can impact property values or affect activities you offer, like pond fishing or kayaking. Mitigate safety risks for residents, workers, and staff by stabilizing your pond edges.

Golf courses: Beautiful ponds are a staple of golf courses. Maintain and stabilize the shoreline of your golf course pond, protecting it from costly repairs down the road. Most importantly, install SOX to mitigate safety risks for golfers walking on the pond edges!

Cost of Pond Erosion Control

Investing in pond erosion control is much more cost effective in comparison to paying for ponds to be restored due to extreme erosion. Factors that impact the cost of pond erosion control include:

Difficulty of installation: A hard-to-reach pond may incur a higher cost due to the difficulty of the installation.
