Michigan regulations require schools and cities to have a standard depth of 12 inches of state-certified playground material in their playgrounds. This is the minimum adequate cushion for children playing at the park or on the school’s equipment.

The materials that Superior Groundcover provides and applies meet the Michigan Playground Specifications.(ASTM Requirements) These materials (Cushion Wood, Playsafe, and Featherwood) consist of virgin chips, which creates a soft cushion for falls in the playground. The playground should be resurfaced every two to three years with approximately three to four inches of fresh cushioning material.
